The first bronze, silver and gold go to....

Well folks

ENTRIES CLOSING SOON!

There’s just a matter of hours to go (and you thought there was few days??? No, that’s for the Olympics to start!) we’re talking about the ninth annual Rydges Capricorn Half Ironman and all entries close at 8:00pm on August 6th (giving you 48 hours to recover for the opening ceremony of the Olympics!)

And whilst you can watch the Olympic triathlon, we’ve got an event you can enter! That’s right, there’ only a ew hours left to join the record field for the Rydges Capricorn Half Ironman.

And it’s official – we have a new entry record and we have a winner in the entry stakes also! An all new all time record (it could be a year for those) of entries from 104 triathlon clubs and squads.

With one entry each we have an incredible 44 clubs; with two entries each for a further 17 clubs.

ADSTA, Auckland, FIT, Fremantle, LAPD, Northern Suburbs, Port Macquarie, Sharks, Snapper Heads, TriFit and Toowoomba have three each in 2008.

Ballarat, Balmoral, Engadine, and Knox have four while Balance, Bendigo, BRAT, Croc Squad, Newcastle, Southport, Spike, Sunshine Coast and Triathlon South TAS) have five entries each.

Northshore Auckland (NZL), Townsville and Warringah boast six entries each with Cronulla, Hervey Bay and Ringwood going one better at 7.

At the sharper end of the club entry field is INTraining, Noosa and Yeronga Vipers, with eight entries each, and with nine each, the Canberra Bilbys, Maitland, Samford, Surfers Paradise and the Whitsunday Clubs were looking good.

However on ten entries was Coffs Harbour beaten by Mackay on 11 and in turn Qld’s Redcliffe Club with 14 entries

The final podium was clear cut this year. TriBal from Victoria claimed the bronze and third with a massive surge of entries from the cold, cold south and with 17 entries.

Second, with silver, and 21 entries, (they had near equal team and individual entries!) are the Frenchville Frogs and the winners, with a huge margin this year, are the Gold Medal winner, the East Coast Cycos, with 30 club entries.

Congratulations then to Queensland’s East Coast Cycos, who score an FOC entry to the tenth anniversary Rydges Capricorn Half Ironman in August 2009.

And this year a runner’s up prize of a further FOC entry to the 2009 Rydges Capricorn Half Ironman goes unanimously to Victoria’s TriBAL club for a sensational effort in challenging the traditional high entry clubs and squads also!

We’ve a huge thank you at this time to the many athletes who have committed to this event; and to our wonderful supporters in Rydges, Enervit, Blue Seventy, Erox, Zoot, TriTravel and so many more who, together with the incredible athletes make this event the fun weekend it is...

We’ll be back shortly with all the specific news for entries post close of entry on August 6th but in the mean time,

Safe Training

Safe Travels

And see you in Yeppoon

Cheers
